Above is a picture of one (1) Wärtsilä Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engine
(RICE)/with built in generator. The Marquette Energy Center (MEC) will consist of three
(3) 18v50DF RICE engine/generators which are the largest internal combustion
engines built in the world, each weighing nearly 300 metric tons and producing 25,000
horsepower.

Pictured are two workers from Braun Intertec Corporation performing  geotechnical services in order to determine soil conditions for the design and construction of the Marquette Energy Center foundations. The geotechnical services will include drilling and sampling 17 soil borings, soil resistivity testing and soil thermal conductivity testing, laboratory testing and presenting a final report to the MBLP.
